Holiday Style

With all the glorious sunshine we’d been enjoying, it got me thinking about the holiday season. I love Holiday dressing, every year I imagine myself wafting down a beach in a bohemian kaftan, with relaxed beachy waves in my hair and golden, glowy skin. Now we all know the reality is usually far from the dream. But I have learnt a few tips over the years to perfect my holiday wardrobe while still keeping my cool.

Keep it Neutral & Invest in Good Swimwear…

I prefer to keep it simple on my travels, mainly if I’m on a short break and want to create a capsule wardrobe. I stick to a mostly Black & White theme to make it easier to mix and match and create maximum looks from a limited wardrobe. A Black Costume looks effortlessly chic teamed with a white coverup. And I always buy the best swimwear that my budget will allow; It does make all the difference to my confidence when hitting the beach.

Fabric is Key…

I’ve made mistakes in the past of buying gorgeous dresses, yet can’t wear them on holiday. Even though they look like the perfect dress to slip on to watch the sun go down at a beach club, the fabric is too thick and I’m a hot sweaty mess before I’ve even set foot on the sand. Linen is huge this Summer, opt for a relaxed dress for ultimate comfort and style.

Accessories are EVERYTHING…

A straw hat is not only essential to keep the UV rays off your face; it will protect your hair, hide a multitude of sins, and will make a simple Cossie & Denim short combo look elegant. Stick to straw beach bags too, that bright coloured bag might look lovely, but when it comes to teaming with your outfits, it will be a nightmare. A simple straw bag is a must to hold your beach essentials by day and opt for a straw clutch to set off your evening look, keeping that relaxed bohemian vibe.

Leave the heels at home…

I never pack heels for a holiday. I hate being too dressed up and most holiday destinations are very relaxed. I select a few pairs of sandals that will work for lazy beach days; long Rosé filled lunches and evenings dining on Paella and sangria. I try and limit myself to 3 pairs. I said try! L.K Bennetts velvet pink and metallic leather style make a simple flat sandal feel extra special.

Stick to your usual style…

Don’t move too far away from your usual personal style. I used to keep things in my wardrobe just for ‘holiday’, pieces I wouldn’t wear at home anymore, but they’ll do for the beach when actually, I want to look and feel as nice when I’m away as I like to feel at home. I buy a few key pieces every year to up my holiday game. After a few Summers, you’ll have an edited, stylish collection and will nail effortless, beach glamour.
