The Social Kitchen

Last week I hosted a Stella & Dot Styling session and to make the night extra special I enlisted the help of The Social Kitchen. I called on my girlfriends, ordered the Prosseco and let Dani from The Social Kitchen do the rest. I first became aware of The Social Kitchen a few year ago through the cookbook Dani created of the same name in memory of her beloved mum, Shally. I’d seen images of events she’d hosted via Instagram and always thought how incredible they looked;

Colourful flowers, vintage crockery, mismatched glasses & the neon light all adding to the atmosphere…

So I knew the look I wanted was going to be spot on with Dani dressing the table. But the food! I, of course, hoped it would be as tasty as it looks in the cookbook but was blown away (as were all my guests) by just how delicious it was, I mean off the scale delicious. Soy Salmon & Sticky Chicken were on the menu along with sides such as Roasted Butternut Squash Salad & Winter Broccoli Salad with Sesame Dressing. Mouthwateringly delicious. And that’s before we even get to the dessert; mulled wine poached pears and chocolate mousse. The whole evening was precisely what Dani sets out to create; a fantastic night filled with friends, laughter and food. A truly social kitchen.

As I mentioned before Dani has written a beautiful cookbook in memory of her mum, Shally, with all proceeds going to Dermatrust, the charity who helped Shally over the years before she sadly passed away. Shally suffered from a number of auto-immune diseases, and Dermatrust is very close to Dani and her families heart. I urge you to buy a copy for someone you love this Christmas. Not only are the recipes excellent, but the whole book is truly inspiring. Snippets of Shally’s life as told by her loved ones, images of old recipes and things Shally loved and heartwarming stories of a family whose mum created many lasting memories from the food she cooked and atmosphere she built around her very social kitchen.
